Consciously Made Gold Necklaces

Ethically sourced gold necklace from Aurate
XO gold necklace with diamonds

With the holidays quickly approaching, I’m so excited to share with you guys my first gift focused post of the season! Jewelry is always a great gift option and this year there are so many jewelry brands to share that have more than just beautiful pieces – there are brands with beautiful missions behind them as well. More than ever when it comes to jewelry, there are options to shop more consciously, whether that means buying locally made jewelry, conflict free/ethically sourced diamonds and raw materials and/or sustainably made necklaces and other jewelry.

How cute is the sustainably made and ethically sourced XO gold necklace with white diamonds featured above?!

Several of the jewelry brands I’ve learned about and come to like this year are made right here in New York City, and a few of them I’ve discovered just while out and about walking the streets of New York. One of my favorite affordable jewelry lines that you’ve seen me post about before is Gorjana. I found Gorjana while walking around the cute little shops in Nolita and loved not only the look of the jewelry but the price point too. On my first visit there I bought a set of delicate rose gold hammered rings and these delicate ring set featured below.

Delicate affordable gold jewelry

Similar to how I discovered Gorjana, I recently discovered Mejuri jewelry, which is also in Nolita on such a great block! The Mejuri storefront is located right by the new Tulo House, New York City’s first nut milk bar, and by Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, which has some of the best vegan ice cream in the city. Mejuri is focused on ethical practices and by selling directly to the us (the buyer), they are able to cut out the middleman and make their fine jewelry more affordable. One of my favorite Mejuri pieces in their gold diamond necklace with a small and simple diamond.

Catbird is another locally made jewelry line here in New York City. Their jewelry is made in their Brooklyn studio and they’ve become well known for their delicate and unique pieces. They also focus on using recycled and reclaimed diamonds too.

And even though it’s not a New York City brand, another favorite of mine is Dana Rebecca, which in addition to the above fine jewelry brands sources conflict-free diamonds too. I discovered Dana Rebecca while living in Chicago, where the brand originated, and these days you’ll often find me in the Dana Rebecca star necklace in rose gold (pictured above).

If you’re buying jewelry this holiday season keep an eye out for products that are responsibly sourced and ethically and/or locally made to find pieces that are not only beautiful in how they look, but beautiful in what they represent too.
