Lavender Room Inspiration

ChairishYou guys! This month Chairish, an online vintage furniture marketplace, reached out to bloggers like me challenging us to create an interior design style board that is inspired by a bold and beautiful accent chair of our choice. The goal was to go from white to bright by stepping away from neutrals and going bold. I’ve never created an interior design style board before but I thought it sounded cool so I thought, “Why not give it a try?” And holy sh*% I had so much fun creating it! In fact I loved it so much that I was up until 3am working on it last week until I reminded myself that this was all for a made up room that didn’t exist…so I should probably go to bed. 😉

Accent Chairs

Given that lavender is my favorite accent color I decided to create a lavender room inspiration board for my dream blogger’s office! I chose two Chairish accent chairs that I wanted to create this dream office around. They are the Room Service White Casablanca Wingback Chair and the Lavender Brass Arm Chair, pictured above. You can see Chairish’s full accent chair collection, here. The lavender chair seemed like a perfect seat for working at my desk and the white chair seemed like the perfect place for visitors to sit and collaborate with me. I’ve had my fair share of moving and decorating so I knew that when it comes to a bright, bold, colorful room, I like it best when the color comes from accent pieces against soft neutral colors. It makes colors really pop while keeping the room bright overall. So, the juxtaposition of the bright lavender chair and the clean white chair seemed like the perfect place to start designing this room. And since this was a mock-up for what would be my dream blogger’s office, there were a few design elements I knew I wanted to incorporate because they represent everything I’m all about. Below I’m sharing with you the details of my style board plus some budget friendly alternatives as well.

LAVENDERS + PURPLES: This is the color scheme of my current apartment except the color accents are way more subtle in my real life place! Here are the lavender/purple items I used:

Lavender

  • Antique Mens Wooden Umbrella: This piece is totally random for an office but I love it and am obsessed with it and want it in this future make-believe blogger’s office of mine. I am in love with the color and love that this color was a men’s umbrella back in the day! It doubles as a walking stick and was made sometime in the late 1800s or early 1900s. How Cool?! (budget friendly version: here)
  • Lavender Tubular Vases: The perfect accent to the white desk.
  • Ombre Glass Vase: This ombre purple and lavender vase is said to date back to the 1880s. (budget friendly version: here)
  • Ametrine Statement Piece: I placed this on the ottoman tray. This piece is made from amethyst and citrine. It can used for healing, for massage or just as a beautiful statement piece. I dig the good vibes.
  • Purple Otomi Embroidered Pillow: Hand embroidered by artisans in the mountains of Central Mexico.
  • Wall Art: Original acrylic abstract painting.
  • Velvet Pillow: An additional pillow option for that white accent chair.
  • Decorative Books: Plum colored books from the 1970s.
  • Purple Storage Cabinet: Newly constructed from reclaimed wood.

WHITE HUES BACKGROUND: To really make my bright, bold accent pieces pop I like them against white/neutral pieces. Hence the big white chair, white desk and ivory curtains.

MIXED METALS: I love mixing metals for my jewelry and for my furniture. As you can see in my design I’ve got lots of gold, silver, brass and everything in between.

Mixed Metals

ANIMALS + PLANTS: If you’ve ever visited my blog before then you know I’m all about being kind to animals and all about eating our plant-foods. So, since this is my future blogger office, and a place to inspire my work on my blog, it only seemed natural to include those elements in my room design. That’s why we’ve got the decorative giraffe, bunnies and apple.

Animals

  • Giraffe: Large brass decorative giraffe. (budget friendly zebra)
  • Bunnies: Vintage brass bunnies in honor of my bunny boys, Hank and Henry. (budget friendly bunny ring holder)
  • Apple: This vintage brass apple is more than just a pretty accent piece, it’s actually a working bell too. (budget friendly version: here)

PEACE & SERENITY : Since one of my goals with this blog is to make this world a kinder place for humans, animals and the planet, I wanted those peaceful vibes in my office too. Hence, the Buddha statue. It’s there to remind me to relax, center myself and focus on what’s really important.

And finally the view out that window is actually a real photo I took of what I see outside my window here in NYC. With all these elements together I fell in love with this room and I hope some day it comes to fruition. What elements would you include in your dream room? Leave a comment and let us know!
