Help a Chick Out :-)

Hi lovelies! Ready to help a chick, actually lots of chicks, out?? Recently, the ASPCA reached out to me about the work they are doing to better the conditions that chickens are raised in. I watched their video, read their information and right away I knew I wanted to help spread their message. As the ASPCA explains, chickens raised under more humane conditions benefit everyone. A.K.A., bettering the conditions chickens live in is beneficial for the chickens themselves and it’s better for the humans who consume chickens as well.

The Truth About Chicken video (below) is funny, cute and educational. It’s animated so there are no graphic images and it’s totally safe for kids to watch. With that said I’ll leave it to the ASPCA’s “Professor Chicken” to tell you what’s up. I really hope you will watch!

Hard truths to swallow, aren’t they? But closing our eyes to them doesn’t make them go away. So what can we do now?

  1. Fill out this letter (www.truthaboutchicken.org) to your local supermarket, asking your grocer to offer higher welfare chicken options. It only takes 5 seconds to fill it out and you submit it online.
  2. Check out the ASPCA’s Meat, Eggs, and Dairy Label Guide – an explanation of the most common food labels and what they mean, here.
  3. Join the conversation on Twitter with the hashtag #ChickenMonth.

Thank you for taking the time to read this important post and taking steps toward making this world a better place for humans, animals and our planet! 🙂
