Clean Eating Tip

IMG_5410

I remember many years ago when I first switched from a processed, high sugar diet to a cleaner, whole foods diet I thought everything tasted like cardboard…completely bland! I was young and so resistant to the change that my mom (thankfully!) had initiated for my family.

If that is where you’re at, keep trying…ease yourself into this new healthier, cleaner way of life.

All that fake sugar and high fat in the normal American diet makes it hard to taste the natural flavors in our food. But the less processed junk you eat, the less you’ll crave it, and the more you’ll be able to appreciate the full flavors of natural food. This I can guarantee!

If you want to learn more of the science behind this phenomenon, here is a Ted Talk about a concept called “The Pleasure Trap.” The presentation is given by Dr. Doug Lisle, one of the lecturers from my plant-based nutrition program. He explains the science behind why we eat bad foods even when we know they are bad for us and why we don’t eat good foods even though we know they are good for us. So intriguing! I highly recommend checking it out:

xo,

Tedi

P.S. Such a big thanks to my mom for starting us on this journey toward healthy living! 🙂

I completely agree with you. I stopped with all the sugar (which added to weight gain) and over a short period of time began to appreciate the natural taste and flavor. I will never go back to sugar and I have lost weight.
