On the Menu this Week

One the Menu This Week June 14It’s time for another roundup of this week’s delicious plant-based/vegan eats. After a year of living here in NYC, I love that I still find new veg-friendly restaurants all the time and new inspiration for meals I can try to recreate at home. I hope these offer some meal inspiration for your next plant powered meal as well! 🙂

CrepeThis crepe from Little Choc Apothecary in Brooklyn was incredible. Their entire crepe menu is delicious and their crepe batter is gluten-free. This was the special of the day, the burrito crepe. It came with black beans, avocado, coconut bacon, hot sauce and cashew cheese.

BagelI have been obsessed with this almond butter and jam bagel from Black Seed Bagels. This almond butter is chunky and a little salty, but it compliments the jam so well. It may look so simple, but it’s perfection.

Mulberry & VineI also recently discovered Mulberry & Vine, which has an array of vegan options. You get to choose from many different items and put them all together to make a meal. I had the stewed lentils over a veggie mash, roasted tofu and broccoli, and a shaved brussels sprouts and citrus salad. The veggie mash with the stewed lentils is one of my favorites.

SaladMy friend Heather and I also had an impromptu lunch at one of our favorite restaurants, Peacefood Cafe Downtown. We both had this delicious caesar salad made with crisp romaine lettuce, tomatoes, smoked tempeh, red onions, crostini and their own dairy-free caesar dressing.

PeacefoodWe also split this side of roasted veggies. The roasted pumpkin was so, so, so good. I don’t think I’ve ever had roasted pumpkin by itself like that before but I will definitely be having it again!

SmoothieThe mushroom dumplings at Peacefood are also always a hit and someone at the table always orders them when we’re there. They are not to be missed!

CrispAnd last but not least this simple, delicious apple crisp with maple whip from Bliss Cafe in Brooklyn was a perfect sweet treat that I will definitely be recreating in my kitchen!
