A Seriously Fantastic Cookbook: Isa Does It

Isa Does It

Isa is a name you hear a lot of in the plant-based world. The seriously fantastic cookbook Isa Does It: Amazingly Easy, Wildly Delicious Vegan Recipes for Every Day of the Week by Isa Chandra Moskowitz seems to be a staple in every veg-head’s kitchen. And for whatever reason, I was late to the game. But lucky for me a few months back my grandma sent me Isa Does It after I asked for a new vegan cookbook for my birthday. My grandma is an amazing cook herself and a fantastic gift giver. I secretly was hoping for this cookbook but didn’t ask for it specifically in case it was hard for her to find. But she did her research, went to the bookstore, looked through tons of cookbooks and on her own chose this one to send to me! I was so happy to receive it and to have my grandma’s approval that the cookbook looked great, since she’s such a wonderful cook. And I am literally blown away by Isa’s unique, innovative and killer recipes. So many of her recipes are just genius and so creative.

This cookbook is also full of easy-to-comprehend tips and tools that will help you become the best at-home chef you can be. The tips cover everything from what food staples to have in your kitchen to what equipment every kitchen should have to even vegan butchery (aka how to cut things like seitan, tofu and tempeh).

Isa Does It

I’ve already made her puffy pillow pancakes (how good do they look above?), her shiitake bacon, her dumplings, which I used in my recipe for hearty vegan stew, and I’ve made her red hot BLTs. None of which I took pictures of because they were just so good I had to eat them right away. And they were all absolutely, positively delicious! And, in addition to the recipes I’ve already tried, here are some of the other standout recipes from her cookbook that I cannot wait to make…

Korean BBQ Portobello Burgers…

Isa Does It

Jerk Sloppy Joes with Coconut Creamed Spinach…

Isa Does It

And New England Clam Chowder (with mushrooms as the clams!)

Isa Does It

Seriously, don’t they all look so delicious? Isa is clearly a star in the kitchen and her recipes will help make you a star in the kitchen too. If you like good food and you’re ready to become a little more plant-based you must get your hands on Isa Does It!! I know I’m so glad I did. 🙂
