Vegan Pizza: NYC Style

Last week some of my girlfriends and I had dinner at Palà, a pizza restaurant on the lower east side of Manhattan. Since moving to NYC I have been on a quest to find awesome, mouth-watering good vegan pizza…and I can happily say I finally found it!

Pala Gnocchi

One thing I love about Palà is that they have a full menu with vegan appetizers, salads, pasta and pizza in addition to a full traditional menu and full gluten-free menu. Everyone I went with was able to eat according to their respective dietary preferences and we all really enjoyed our food.

To start (I obviously had to try pasta and pizza for the blog, right?? 😉 ), I got an order of the vegan gnocchi which comes with cherry tomato sauce, basil and daiya cheese. It was absolutely fantastic. For pizza I had the “funghi e salsiccia” which comes with veggie sausage, field mushrooms, daiya cheese and hot peppers. The whole pizza was delicious from the crust to the toppings to the vegan cheese. And my friend who ordered a gluten-free pizza said the gluten-free crust was delish as well.

Doesn’t that look great? I’m getting hungry just looking at it! Other pizzas at Palà that I can’t wait to try include the “etna” with eggplant, cherry tomato sauce, daiya cheese and basil and the “porri e salsiccia” with veggie sausage, leeks, sundried tomatoes, daiya cheese, pink peppercorns and hot peppers.

And if you’re visiting NYC this restaurant is a great place to get dinner because it’ll give you a good feel for the types of places New Yorkers eat at. Although it seems like everyone in NYC is living, working and eating in places like Times Square, that’s simply not the case! This is a smaller restaurant with a great neighborhood feel. It’s the perfect combination of lovely ambience, a health conscious menu and delicious food.

If you’re interested in trying some delicious, savory, flavorful vegan pizza, check out Palà’s website here.
