Book Recommendation: Skinny Bitch

Skinny Bitch

Skinny Bitch authors Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin present plant-based eating as the best way to lose weight and then keep it off. As they describe it, Skinny Bitch is a “no-nonsense, tough-love guide for savvy girls who want to stop eating crap and start looking fabulous!” At first glance this book is a hysterical, witty explanation for how to look your best, but once you get into it you soon realize that this is so much more than that. The book is loaded with scientific research (that’s presented in an easy-to-read way) to back up all their claims. And as soon as you start reading you’ll realize this is not just a superficial book about being thin…it actually promotes a great and important message about kind living in respect to ourselves, our animal friends and our planet.

Even though I use a slightly “gentler” approach to sharing what I know about nutrition, I really echo their sentiments. Here are some of my favorite, no-nonsense quotes from the book:

“Soda is liquid Satan.”

“Say goodbye to soda and hello to a sweet ass.”

“Whenever you see the words ‘fat-free’ or ‘low-fat’ think the words ‘chemical shit storm.’”

“Simple carbohydrates suck and are as nutritionally beneficial as toilet paper.”

“You cannot keep eating the same shit and expect to get skinny.”

“Every time you consume factory-farmed chicken, beef, veal, pork, eggs, or dairy, you are eating antibiotics, pesticides, steroids and hormones.”

This book is a great first read if you’re flirting with the idea of going plant-based or even just eating healthier in general. It will have you laughing while at the same time teaching you tons of important information related to nutrition. I highly recommend checking it out. Great recommendation! I’m trying to make some adjustments to my lifestyle, and eating more plant-based foods + reducing processed foods are the top two things on my list. I enjoy reading about what I’m eating (or NOT eating…) and this book sounds like a great read! Adding it to my “to read” list! Thanks for the recommendation 🙂
