Kind Living + Kind Face Masks

Kind Living Purple

One message I truly hope comes across on this blog is that I don’t think I’m perfect when it comes to plant-strong eating, kind living or health/wellness. Of course I wish I was, but I’m not! Although I am formally (and personally) educated on these topics, I am well aware that there is always more to learn and more to do. What I love about having this blog is that when I do find really great things like clothes, recipes, products, etc. that are kind I get to share them all with you.

If you’re new to the blog you might be thinking, what does she even mean by kind living? Kind living means: being kind to ourselves, to our animal friends and to the environment.

In this world we live in we’ve been conditioned to simply buy what we need (or want) when we need it and that’s that without any real exploration about the repercussions of what we just purchased. We usually don’t ask ourselves…How does this product impact the environment? What are the long-term effects on my health? Were any animals harmed in the making of this? Were any animals killed in the making of this? Once we start to ask these questions it can be overwhelming because we realize that the answers are almost always: yes this product is bad for the environment, yes it is bad for my long-term health, yes animals were harmed in the making of it and yes animals were killed in the making of it. And those realizations are so disheartening.

Sure, buying one bottle of some product one time might not be that bad for our health, that bad for the environment and might not harm that many animals…but over our entire lifetimes we can do some serious damage. OR we can turn it around and make the amazingly simple change of becoming a more conscious consumer and easy as that were on the road to making this world a better and kinder place.

The changing point for me was when I really truly realized that my choices impact the environment, my health and animals, whether I want to acknowledge it or not. Given that realization I slowly but surely started to make changes in how I live my life. I’m not perfect by any means but more and more I find myself asking those questions when I am buying goods, be it food, home products, clothes, beauty products, etc. And by challenging myself to ask those questions I am continually finding new products that I love and feel good about purchasing.

There are some great companies that make products with human health, animal welfare and the environment in mind. Below are two great products that I’m excited to share with you. And remember look for bunnies like these on products if you’re wondering if they’re cruelty-free!

Friendly Face Masks

A few weeks back I was lazy and skipped my face washing routine multiple nights in a row. My mom and sister both told me I was making a bad choice, but I foolishly chose to ignore them because like I said, I was having a lazy few days. Of course they were both right and by the next week my skin was not up to par. It wasn’t horrible but definitely had some congestion and swelling from me messing with it. I decided to go to Whole Foods, where they have a plethora of environmentally conscious and cruelty-free products, to take my time checking out all the different face masks until I found the right ones to clear up my skin.

After spending a very long time in the Whole Body section and doing my research, I ended up choosing two masks. One for congestion and one to bring down any inflammation. The first purchase was the Evanhealy French Rose Clay Mask, which is for sensitive to gently active and congested skin conditions. My mom turned me onto Evanhealy masks way back when I was in high school so I knew it would be good stuff!

Evanhealy

This mask comes in a powder form. You mix it with water to make it into a paste before putting it on your face. EvanhealyAfter applying to your skin let it dry. Once dry, rinse off and your skin should be less congested and smoother than before.

For the second mask I chose MyChelle Pure Harmony Mask which is a soothing, restorative mask with Arnica and Magnolia. I applied this after the Evanhealy mask to bring down the slight swelling and inflammation from the congestion.

You can even put this mask in the fridge before use if you’re looking for some extra cooling properties.

I loved both masks and the combination seemed to be exactly what my skin needed. By the next day my skin was back to its normal healthy state.

And look at all these wonderful statements from the Evanhealy and MyChelle packaging…cruelty-free, vegan friendly, gluten-free, 100% post consumer paper, sustainable, no preservatives, free of GMO’s, free of parabens, not tested on animals and eco-friendly packaging. Now those make up some pretty kind products!

You can purchase both masks at Whole Foods Markets or online here:
