3 Things to Check Out at Brooklyn’s New Whole Foods Market Williamsburg

Last week I checked out Brooklyn’s newest Whole Foods Market in Williamsburg. I was in food heaven! The store was spacious, clean and so well stocked. Plus, it was super vegan friendly! There were three things about this new Whole Foods that I just loved and wanted to share with all of you. If you find yourself in Brooklyn this grocery store is definitely worth a visit.

  1. Ugly Greens. You read that right, ugly greens! Gotham Greens, an NYC urban produce farm, has rolled out a new concept called “ugly greens” at this Williamsburg Whole Foods Market. Ugly greens are the greens that weren’t “pretty” enough to make it into a normal bag of greens, but are still tasty, edible and nutritious. Since these greens aren’t as pretty as the usual greens that make it onto the grocery store shelf, they are cheaper than your average bag of greens. Not only are ugly greens more affordable, they’re also sustainable because more of the greens are actually being sold instead of wasted. This is an awesome concept all around. And as you can see below they still look quite good.Ugly Greens
  2. Smoothie bowls. Right when you enter this Whole Foods you’ll find yourself at their coffee and juice bar that also sells smoothies and smoothie bowls. I had the pink power smoothie bowl made with banana, almond butter, cacao nibs, dates, strawberries and hemp milk, all topped with raspberries (strawberries for mine cause they were out of raspberries), sliced almonds and hemp seeds. Smoothie bowls are one of my favorite ways to start the day so this is a great addition to any grocery store.

  3. Layered – A vegan parfait bar. I cannot even tell you how awesome I think this parfait bar is. At Layered everything is dairy-free. You can choose to make your own parfait or order one off their menu. I ordered the tropical whip parfait, which was recommended as their most popular one, and it was UNREAL! So, so, so delicious. It was made of vanilla chia seed pudding, mango, pineapple, coconut whip, nuts + seeds and toasted coconut. It was fabulous. Next time I find myself in Brooklyn, this parfait bar will be one of my first stops!
